INTERNATIONAL DAY OF PEACE
The International Day of Peace was first established in 1981 by a resolution 36/67 of the United Nations General Assembly to coincide with its opening session every September.
In 2001 the resolution 55/282 was strengthened to make September 21st the official date (in Spain is on January 30th ) . International peace Day is a day of non-violence and cease-fire
Today, on International Peace Day there are many celebrations and peace marches in cities and countries worldwide.
UN Secretary-General has asked all United Nations departments and agencies to expand their observance, extending a special invitation to civil society and highlighting the Minute of Silence at 12 noon.
At the same time, as Dr. Jane Goodall says, "To achieve global peace, we must not only stop fighting each other but also stop destroying the natural world."
CHILDREN´S PEACE QUOTES
Most of the verses are from school children in the USA and Australia.
Peace is a puzzle waiting to be solved,
Peace is a story waiting to be told.
Peace is a truly beautiful thing,
Just like a blooming flower in spring.
Peace is a family who loves and cares,
Peace is smiles and smiles everywhere.
Peace is a star trying to shine.
Peace is a shadow trying not to hide.
Peace is about joy and friendship.
Peace helps the world to be a better place.
Peace is a never ending chain of love, joy and happiness.
For peace you need an open heart and a forgiving mind.
In a world full of iron, peace is gold.
Peace is the warmth in a land full of cold.
Peace is a legend from a far off place.
Peace is a book waiting to be read.
And now listen to and enjoy these beautiful songs about Peace:
A Pamphlet, no matter how good , is never read more than once, but a song is learned
by heart and repeated over and over.........( JOE HILL )
Rod Stewart - What a wonderful world.
